In the CalAmp application, you'll notice that there's a screen that seems new, Admin - Devices, on which you can view all your LMUs (location messaging units), CalAmp Tags, and other devices. This screen did exist in legacy iOn, essentially, but as a window you opened from the Admin - Assets screen by clicking View Devices at the top right.

Note: CalAmp automatically populates this list for you.

Viewing all the devices you have available to you in the CalAmp application is as simple as this:

  1. In the sidebar menu on the left, click .

  2. Click Devices on the flyout menu that appears.

The Admin - Devices screen will appear.

By default, your devices are listed by name in ascending order (from lowest to highest for numbers, or from A to Z for words).

  3. If you want to see devices in subgroups of the one you have selected in the Group Chooser, make sure that View Subgroups is selected at the bottom of the screen.

  4. You can scroll down the grid to see all the devices you have available.

  5. To find a particular device, you can sort or filter the Device Name or ESN column, as shown in Sorting and Filtering Column Data.

  6. You can export the grid data to a CSV (comma-separated value) file by clicking  at the top right.

  7. You can add or remove columns by clicking at the top right of the grid and following the steps in Customizing Displayed Columns.

  8. If you don't have CalAmp save grid modifications you make automatically for all the application's screens (if the Automatically Save Grid Settings toggle in the Preferences area of My Profile is deselected — see Viewing Your Profile and Setting Your Preferences), you can save any layout changes you've made to the Admin - Devices screen by clicking . (If you haven't made any layout updates you can save, will be above the grid instead.) See Saving Grid Changes for an Individual Screen for more details.

Here is an explanation of the column headers:

    • Device Name: The device identifier, which is often its ESN (electronic serial number).

    • Device Type: The classification for the asset, such as LMU-3030, LMU-3240, or Tag (for a CalAmp Tag).

    • Asset Name: The asset the device is assigned to (if it's already in use), if any.

    • Group: The name of the fleet group the device belongs to.

    • Tag: Whether the device is a CalAmp Tag (with column values of Yes and No). See Employing CalAmp Tags for more details.

    • Status: The device's current state in the database, such as Enabled.

    • ESN: The device's electronic serial number.

    • Last Reported: The date and time the device last reported an event to CalAmp.

  9. Just below the grid are icons that enable you to navigate through the pages of data, if needed. See Paging Options for an explanation of these.
