On the Tracking Beta screen, there is a quick method for tracking the history of asset activity in a specific geographic area (also called a boundary search) — the Vicinity Search. This feature will give you similar results as a Radial boundary search (as shown in Mapping Asset History in a Certain Area on the Tracking Beta Screen), as follows:

  1. Click  on the left side of the screen.

  2. Click Tracking Beta on the flyout menu that appears.

The Tracking Beta screen will open.

  3. Position the map in the area you want to see activity for.
Note: You can click and drag the map to change the shown location. You can also zoom in and out as needed using and  in the top-right toolbar.
  4. Right-click in the center of the region.

    A menu will appear.

  5. Click Vicinity Search.

A blue circle will be displayed at the location, and the Vicinity Search widget will appear.

  6. Click the white handle on the circle's edge and drag it out to the size you want.
Note: The number of miles/kilometers will be updated in the Radius field.
  7. In the dialog box, click the Display for Past Hours drop-down arrow and select the number of hours in the recent past for which you'd like to see asset activity.

Alternatively, you can select the time value, type the amount of time you want, and then click the remaining value on the list.
Caution: You can choose a maximum of 24 hours.

  8. Click Next.

The asset activity in the area will be displayed in color-coded path lines, and only assets that traveled there in the specified time frame will be listed in the grid beneath the map.

Note: If you want to redo your vicinity search, you'll need to first remove the current one by clicking Clear All above the map or on this chip:

As with other boundary searches, grouping results by trips is automatically disabled so that you can more clearly see the raw event data (which will avoid strange results due to some trip events being outside the boundary).

  9. To view all the individual events for an asset, click its expansion arrow ( changes to ) in the grid. (You can scroll down if needed to see all the events.)

To limit the events listed, such as to check only for Begin Speeding events, filter the Events column. (See Sorting and Filtering Column Data if necessary.)
