If you would like to add several drivers to your CalAmp account at once, you can import all their data in bulk. To do so, follow these steps:

Note: For details on how to add a single driver, see Adding a Driver.

  1. In the sidebar menu on the left, click .

  2. Click Drivers on the flyout menu that appears.

The Admin - Drivers screen will appear.

  3. Click Import at the top right of the screen.

The Import Drivers dialog box will appear.

  4. Under the Drag or Click to Upload Your File box, click Download Blank Template or Download Template with Drivers.
Note: Use the Blank Template option if you are importing new drivers entirely (and not updating any existing ones). Use Template with Drivers if you are editing properties of current drivers; you can also add new operators with the same file.

The Template with Drivers option will include the drivers you are viewing in the grid, so if you have View Subgroups selected, this will mean all the drivers in the group you have chosen in the Group Chooser, plus those in all its subgroups.
The file drivers.xlsx will be downloaded.

  5. Open the file.

The fields that are required have a red background (Group Name, First Name, and Last Name).
Note: The badge number is their employee ID number or perhaps an RFID number.
  6. Fill in the required fields, plus any of the other data you'd like to include, placing each driver's properties horizontally across (in a row).

If you chose the Template with Drivers option, you can update the data in the rows of existing drivers.
Note: You may need to enable editing first, depending on your settings.

If you downloaded a template with your current drivers, place new drivers in a new row.
  7. After saving the file, return to the CalAmp application and click  in the Import Drivers dialog box.

  8. Navigate to your updated drivers.xlsx file and open it.

The dialog box will report the status of your upload (such as "100% Completed" below).

  9. Click Import.

A message will appear, saying that your drivers are being imported. When the import is finished, you'll receive the Drivers Imported success message.

    You'll have these options:

    • Download Results: Downloads an Excel file that lists the drivers that were successfully imported, plus all the settings that were applied for them.

    • Download Errors: This will appear only if there were problems with adding any driver (such as if a required field wasn't filled in for them). This downloads an Excel file that lists the errors that caused any driver imports to fail. If this occurs, you can correct the errors in your drivers.xlsx file and reupload it.

    • New Import: Begins the process of importing additional drivers.
Note: If you are wondering why the example in the preceding figure states that 10 out of 11 assets were successfully imported, this is because this particular drivers.xlsx file contained 10 existing assets and one new one — 11 rows of driver data — and only nine of the prior drivers had data changed. Therefore, the other driver in the file had no changes and didn't need to be imported.
  10. If you are finished importing drivers, click Done.

Your new drivers will appear in the Admin - Drivers list.
