This article covers the various features of iOn, located at https://ion.calamp.com.
The default startup screen is Tracking, and it displays the assets of the group you have selected in the Group Chooser on the map. (See Navigating the Tracking Screen for details about it.)
Note: CalAmp uses the term asset for the equipment you are tracking; generally speaking, this will mean vehicle, but it also could be farm equipment, cargo containers — anything of value to you that could be in motion and therefore trackable.
The Site Banner
At the top of the site, you will see the banner, which contains the following:
- : This is simply our company's logo.
- : Click this to open a widget that lists notifications for alerts. The count of unread notifications appears to the top right of the bell. If there is no number, all your notifications have been marked as read.
- : Click this (the icon or the Help text) to launch the Knowledge Base (KB) this article is part of.
- : This displays the name of the group whose assets you are currently viewing. Click either the icon or group name to open the Group Chooser, which you can use to change the group each screen you access will view first. (See Choosing a Group to View Globally for details.)
- : This displays the username you use to log in to iOn. Click the text of your username (or the profile icon) to open a pop-up with options to update your user profile settings, access this KB, contact Customer Support, view CalAmp's privacy policy, or log out. (See Viewing Your Profile and Setting Your Preferences for details on changing your preferences.)
The Sidebar Menu
Along the left side of the screen is the site's main sidebar menu.
These are the options you'll see (depending on what modules your organization has):
- Dashboard: The following Dashboards provide key information about your fleet's overall performance in an at-a-glance view:
- Devices: Accessed by selecting Fleet from the flyout menu and then the Devices tab, this presents data on your devices' capability to report to iOn and whether any assets have no paired LMUs (plus any units that have no associated assets).
- Safety: Accessed by selecting Fleet from the flyout menu and then the Safety tab, this shows how your overall fleet safety score has evolved over the past month, percentages of harsh event and speeding safety violations, and which drivers have triggered the most harsh and speeding events.
- Utilization: Accessed by selecting Fleet from the flyout menu and then the Utilization tab, this demonstrates how your assets are being used across your fleet from week to week, including idling and work time, plus the percentages of usage of each asset (in other words, if the asset is being used all the days in the chosen time range for the expected number of work hours).
- CrashBoxx AI: Provides crash data in charts and graphs that help you visualize how your fleet has been affected by accidents, including the percentage of crashes for your total fleet, the number of crashes by severity level, the total crashes, and the percentage by crash type. (Note that this requires the purchase of an add-on module.)
- Devices: Accessed by selecting Fleet from the flyout menu and then the Devices tab, this presents data on your devices' capability to report to iOn and whether any assets have no paired LMUs (plus any units that have no associated assets).
- Tracking: The Tracking screen enables you to locate and track your fleet assets and to map a history of their reported GPS events.
- Vision: CalAmp Vision is an add-on video-telematics service that includes a camera device (with one lens facing the road and the other facing the driver) in your vehicles that will return video files to iOn you can view within the software.
- Events: The Events menu houses Geofence Events, which lists your geofence events (when your assets entered and exited your geofences, geocoded areas of interest), and Notification Events, which shows the alerts that have been triggered by your assets and devices and sent to iOn. Both screens enable you to acknowledge their events.
- Reports: iOn's reports can provide you with all kinds of information about your fleet, including the total miles your vehicles have driven, asset history, idling details, engine hours, stop data, when assets have entered and exited your geofences, fault codes, fuel efficiency, and operator performance.
- CrashBoxx AI: CrashBoxx AI is an add-on service that can notify you in real time if your vehicles have been involved in an accident; you can view crash-reconstruction data by case ID on the CrashBoxx AI screen.
- Maintenance: The Maintenance module lists the assets that are due for service and displays upcoming services scheduled for a selected asset (and when services were performed on it in the past). You add the required services and schedules for your assets in Admin - Maintenance.
- Admin: The Admin menu contains many utilities your system administrator will use, including options for managing your fleet’s assets, devices, drivers, users, roles, groups, routes, geofences, notifications, maintenance schedules, driver/asset schedules, IO profiles, and driver scoring infraction weights.
- ELD/DVIR: CalAmp's electronic logging device (ELD) solution is an add-on service that can help your organization fulfill the mandate of using an electronic method of logging drive time instead of a paper one. The menu item links you to the website of our ELD partner, assured Techmatics, at https://portal.apolloeld.com. You can find help documentation for the site at ELD Online Portal User Guide.
- Collapse: The Collapse option enables you to collapse the sidebar menu to just an icon view (hiding the menu names) so that you can have more window real estate for the screen items. (You can restore the menu to view by clicking .)
