If your organization has set up the correct configuration for hardware and scripts with your customer success manager (CSM), you will be able to disable vehicle starters remotely and stop assets from being driven. To clarify, disable in this context doesn’t mean to turn off their tracking in iOn; instead, this means that the vehicle will become inoperable, preventing its use. If a vehicle is disabled while it is in motion, it will stop functioning after the ignition is turned off.
Note: Your assets will need a PEG script configuration that turns on remote vehicle disablement in order to use this feature.
Currently, only CalAmp users have the role permissions required to remotely disable vehicles (Remote Vehicle Controls and Edit Vehicle Controls Status under Admin Assets Page), but you can have these added for you with a request to CalAmp Support or your CSM.
To disable a vehicle remotely, follow these steps:
- On the sidebar menu on the left, click
.
- Click Assets on the flyout menu that appears.
The Admin - Assets screen will appear.
- If the asset you need to disable is in a subgroup of the one you have selected in the Group Chooser, make sure that View Subgroups is selected at the top of the screen.
- In the row of the asset, click
at the far right. (To find the asset, you can sort or filter the Name column, if needed, as shown in Sorting and Filtering Column Data.)
- Click Disable Vehicle.
A confirmation dialog box will appear.
- Click Continue.
- To see that the vehicle has been disabled, you might need to refresh your screen.
Note: You can add a Vehicle Disabled column to the grid via the column selector to see which assets are currently disabled. (This column is planned to be renamed to Starter Disabled in an upcoming release.) - You can reenable the vehicle by clicking
in its row and selecting Enable Vehicle.
