J1939 DTC History


The J1939 DTC History report provides details about the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs — also called fault codes) from J1939 assets, including descriptions of the codes, when and where they were reported, and the driver and route assigned to the asset at the time. Here are the columns that are displayed by default:

The driver's first name, as entered in iOn
Operator Last Name
The driver's last name, as entered in iOn
Operator Type
The driver's type, if entered in iOn
Operator Category
The driver's category (if your organization has delineated driver categories and entered them in iOn)
Route Name
The name of the route (if one is assigned to the asset)
Route Type
The type of the route (if one is assigned to the asset)
Route Category
The category of the route (if one is assigned to the asset)
SPN Code
The suspect parameter number, which identifies the equipment or condition that triggered the DTC
SPN Description
An explanation of what the code number indicates, such as Engine Oil Pressure
FMI Code
The failure mode indicator code, which identifies the type of failure
FMI Description
An explanation of what the code number indicates, such as Abnormal Rate of Change
Occurrence Count
The number of times the DTC occurred (as reported in the event message)
DTC Active Time
The date and time the fault code was reported
Active Location
The address of the asset's location when the fault code was reported

J1939 Fault Lamp History


The J1939 Fault Lamp History report provides a list of J1939 assets with active fault lamps during the time range, including the lamp names, when and where they were lit, and the driver and route assigned to the asset at the time. Here are the columns that are displayed by default:

Note: This is derived from the event label reported to iOn, such as the following:
  • Amber Warning: Amber (yellow) warning lamps indicate that something has malfunctioned that needs attention but is not an immediate emergency.
  • Protect: Protection warning lamps indicate that due to a detected problem, a device has entered a protective mode to prevent damage.
  • Red Stop: Red warning lamps indicate that a serious malfunction has occurred that needs you to stop driving and take immediate action to rectify the issue.
Lamp On Time
The date and time the lamp lit up
Lamp Off Time
The date and time the lamp became inactive
Active Location
The address of the asset's location when the lamp was activated

OBDII DTC History
