iOn uses progressive web app (PWA) technology, which combines the best features of web and mobile apps, to create a website that offers the ease of use of an app along with the performance and efficiency of a responsive web application. You can leverage this PWA capability to add iOn to your smart device's home screen or even your computer to use as you would any other app. How to do so is presented in three sections below, each covering a different platform (Android, iOS, and a Windows or Mac machine).

Android Device

To add iOn to your home screen on an Android device, follow these steps:

  1. In Chrome, navigate to the iOn site (https://ion.calamp.com).

  2. Tap the overflow menu icon () at the top right of the browser.

The Chrome overflow menu will appear.

  3. Tap Install App. (Depending on your version of Chrome, this option may be Add to Home Screen.)

    A dialog will appear.

  4. Tap Install.

iOn will appear just like any other app on your smart device.

  5. Going forward, you can simply tap the app icon to launch iOn.

iOS Device

To add iOn to your home screen on an iOS device, follow these steps:

  1. In Safari, navigate to the iOn site (https://ion.calamp.com).

  2. Tap the Share icon ().

    The Share menu will appear.

  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.

  4. You can use the default text for your app or change it.

  5. Tap Add.

iOn will appear just like any other app on your iOS device.

  6. Going forward, you can simply tap the app icon to launch iOn.
Caution: iOS automatically removes PWA files after a few weeks of disuse. However, the app icon will still appear on your home screen, so when you next open the app, iOS will download all the required files again.

Personal Computer

To add iOn to your desktop screen on a Windows or Mac machine, follow these steps:

  1. In Chrome, navigate to the iOn site (https://ion.calamp.com).

  2. Click the Install PWA icon () in the Address bar (at the far right, near the bookmark icon).

    A dialog box will appear.

  3. Click Install.

The required files will be installed on your machine, and iOn will open and behave as a native app.

iOn will appear just like any other shortcut to an app on your desktop screen.

  4. Going forward, you can simply double-click the app shortcut icon to launch iOn.
