To delete a role in your iOn account, follow these steps:


Caution: iOn comes prepackaged with three roles — Admin, Demo, and User. You won't be able to delete those. You can only delete roles you created yourself.


  1. Click  >> Admin >> Roles.
     
    The Admin - Roles screen will appear and display the Manage Roles list.
       
  2. If the role you need to delete is in a subgroup of the one you have selected in the Group Chooser (although roles are best assigned to your top-level group), click Include Subgroups at the bottom of the screen.
     
  3. Scroll down to the role or filter the Name column to find it. (See Sorting and Filtering Column Data if needed.)
    Caution: As mentioned earlier, you won't be able to remove the default roles (Admin, Demo, and User), as indicated bybeing grayed out. Also, roles you created yourself, which you can delete, might not be removable if a user is assigned to them. If you seeunder Actions instead offor one of your roles and need to remove it from the database, reassign its users to different roles and then log out of iOn. After you log back in, you should be able to delete the role.
  4. In the row of the role, click  under Actions.
     
    A warning dialog box will be displayed.
      
  5. Click Confirm.
       
    The role will no longer appear in the Manage Roles grid.

    Note: There is a known bug that sometimes lets you walk through the steps of deletion even when you shouldn't have been able to due to users being assigned to a role. If the role is still displayed in the list after these steps, check the Admin - Users screen to see if someone belongs to the role. If so, reassign its users to different roles and then log out of iOn. After you log back in, you should be able to delete the role.
