If you would like to add several routes to your iOn account at once, you can import all their data in bulk. To do so, follow these steps:

Note: Remember, in iOn, a route isn't a path that a vehicle is assigned to follow (a specific itinerary of stops along a course); rather, an iOn route is an attribute you can define to use as a filter (such as snow routes in a certain area).

Note: For details on how to add a single route, see Adding a Route. For an explanation of the features of the Admin - Routes screen, go to Navigating the Admin - Routes Screen.

  1. Click  >> Admin >> Routes.
The Admin - Routes screen will appear and display the Manage Routes list.
  2. Click Import Routes at the bottom of the screen.
The Import Routes dialog box will appear.
  3. Click Download Template.
The file routes.xlsx will be downloaded.
  4. Open the file.
The fields that are required have a red background (Group Name and Route Name).
  5. Fill in the required fields, plus any of the other data you'd like to include, placing each route's properties horizontally across (in a row).
  6. After saving the file, return to iOn and click Browse in the Import Routes dialog box.
  7. Navigate to your updated routes.xlsx file and open it.
The dialog box will state at the bottom how many routes you will be importing.
  8. Click Save.
A message will appear, saying that your routes are being imported. When the import is finished, you'll receive the Routes Imported success message.
    You'll have these options:
    • Download Results: Downloads an Excel file that lists the routes that were successfully imported, plus all the settings that were applied for them.
    • Download Errors: This will appear only if there were problems with adding any route (such as if a required field wasn't filled in for it). This downloads an Excel file that lists the errors that caused any route imports to fail. If this occurs, you can correct the errors in your routes.xlsx file and reupload it.
    • New Import: Begins the process of importing additional routes.
  9. If you are finished importing routes, click Done.
Your new routes will appear in the Manage Routes list.
