If you would like to add several assets to your iOn account at once, you can import all their data in bulk. To do so, follow these steps:

Note: For details on how to add a single asset, see Adding an Asset. For an explanation of the features of the Admin - Assets screen, go to Navigating the Admin - Assets Screen.

  1. Click  >> Admin >> Assets.

The Admin - Assets screen will appear and display the Manage Assets list.

  2. Click Import Assets at the bottom of the screen.

The Import Assets dialog box will appear.

  3. Click Download Template.

The file assets.xlsx will be downloaded.

  4. Open the file.

The fields that are required have a red background (Group Name and Asset Name).

  5. Fill in the required fields, plus any of the other data you'd like to include, placing each asset's properties horizontally across (in a row).
Note: You may need to enable editing first, depending on your settings.
  6. After saving the file, return to iOn and click Browse in the Import Assets dialog box.

  7. Navigate to your updated assets.xlsx file and open it.

The dialog box will state at the bottom how many assets you will be importing.

  8. Click Save.

A message will appear, saying that your assets are being imported. When the import is finished, you'll receive the Assets Imported success message.

    You'll have these options:

    • Download Results: Downloads an Excel file that lists the assets that were successfully imported, plus all the settings that were applied for them.

    • Download Errors: This will appear only if there were problems with adding any asset (such as if a required field wasn't filled in for it). This downloads an Excel file that lists the errors that caused any asset imports to fail. If this occurs, you can correct the errors in your assets.xlsx file and reupload it.

    • New Import: Begins the process of importing additional assets.

  9. If you are finished importing assets, click Done.

Your new assets will appear in the Manage Assets list.
