Alerts are messages sent from your system to inform users of certain asset situations (as a result of event triggers from your assets' devices), such as a warning about a low battery or a missing iOn Tag. There are a couple of different ways of viewing and acknowledging your current alerts: via the Alerts icon () in the banner or via the Alerts option on the accordion menu, as described in the following two sections.

Note: To acknowledge an alert, in iOn terms, means that you are verifying for all the other users in your organization that the alert has been seen and, if necessary, handled. Generally, only users who are responsible for taking care of the condition the alert is notifying you about should be acknowledging alerts.

The first two sections below show how to acknowledge a single alert. To see how to acknowledge several alerts at once, skip down to the third section, "Acknowledging Multiple Alerts."

Via the  Banner Icon

To see and acknowledge your alerts using the  banner icon, follow these steps:

  1. Click  in the site banner.
Note: The number to the top right of the icon indicates how many unacknowledged alerts you have.
The Alerts panel will drop down and display the most recent alerts your organization has received.

The severity (how serious the alert has been designated: Low, Medium, High, or Critical) of the alert will appear just below its name.

  2. To refresh the list of alerts, you can click  at the bottom right of the panel.

  3. To acknowledge one of the recent alerts, you can click  to its right.

  4. To view detailed data about a recent alert, click  to its right.

The alert's Details window will appear.

The data it includes depends on the type of alert it is, but typically, it will have the name of the asset that triggered the alert, its group name, the date and time the alert was transmitted, and where the triggering event occurred. At the bottom will be the email address the alert was sent to and cell phone number of the text recipient (if any).

  5. You can click Acknowledge at the bottom of the Details window to mark the alert as acknowledged (or Close to exit the window).

  6. You can open the Alerts screen by clicking View All at the bottom of the Alerts drop-down panel. (See the following section for more details.)

Via the Alerts Accordion Menu Option

To see and acknowledge your alerts using the Alerts option on the accordion menu, follow these steps:

  1. Click  >> Alerts.

The Alerts screen will appear and display all the unacknowledged alerts your organization has received, with the most recent on top.

Note: For details about the features of the Alerts screen, go to Navigating the Alerts Screen.
  2. To acknowledge an alert, you can click  at the far right in its row.
Note: If the Alerts screen is set to its default display (which shows only unacknowledged alerts), this will appear to delete the alert, as it will no longer be shown. This doesn't delete the alert, though, and you can see it by selecting Clear Filters at the bottom of the screen; it will now have a value of "Yes" in the Acknowledged column.
  3. To view detailed data about an alert, click  at the far right in its row.

  4. You can click Acknowledge at the bottom of the Details window to mark the alert as acknowledged (or Close to exit the window).
