The Tracking screen's Measurement tool enables you to measure the size of an area on the map, calculate the distance between two (or more) points, and pinpoint a location's latitude and longitude values, as shown in the following three sections.
Measuring an Area
- Click
>> Tracking.
The Tracking screen will open.
- Navigate to the general area of the map you want to measure, placing the region on the left side of the map.
- In the map toolbar at the top right, click
.
The Measurement tool will appear.
- Click
on the left.
A drop-down list will appear, with measurement options such as Acres, Sq Mi (square miles), and Sq Kilometers.
- Click the drop-down arrow and select the unit of measurement you want to use.
- On the map, click the first point of the shape to measure and drag to create one side.
- Click at the end of the first line.
- Drag away from that point in the direction of the second line to create a shape.
- Click at the end of that second line.
The tool will report the measurement of the current area you've mapped.
- Drag away from the third point in the direction of a third line to continue your shape and click at the end of that line.
The tool will update its measurement total to include all of the mapped area.
- Repeat step 10 for as many lines you need to create your shape.
- After you've drawn your final line, double-click.
The total at the bottom of the Measurement tool will show how large your drawn area is.
Measuring the Distance Between Two or More Points
- On the Tracking screen, navigate to the general area of the map you want to measure, placing the region on the left side of the map.
- In the map toolbar at the top right, click
.
The Measurement tool will appear.
- Click
in the middle.
A drop-down list will appear, with measurement options such as Miles, Kilometers, and Feet.
- Click the drop-down arrow and select the unit of measurement you want to use.
- On the map, click the first point of the line to measure.
A pin will appear at that location.
- Drag to the end point of the line and click.
The tool will report the measurement of the line you've drawn.
- If you'd like to measure any further lines after that one, drag away from the second point in the direction of a second line and click at the end of it.
The tool will update its measurement total to include both lines.
- Repeat step 7 for as many lines as you want to include in the distance measurement.
- After you've drawn your final line, double-click.
The total at the bottom of the Measurement tool will show the length of all the lines combined.
Finding a Location's Latitude/Longitude Values
- On the Tracking screen, navigate to the area of the map containing the location whose latitude and longitude values you want, placing the region on the left side of the map.
- In the map toolbar at the top right, click
.
The Measurement tool will appear.
- Click
at the right.
- On the map, click the location.
A pin will appear on the map, and its latitude and longitude values will appear in the Measurement tool.
- You can repeat step 4 to get a different spot's latitude and longitude values.
